The following calculator estimates the angular position of Earth and Mars as a function of time and computes the distance between Earth and Mars. The calculator assumes that the Earth and Mars travel in circular orbits at constant speed and in the same plane. You may use it as a guide to judge approximate dates when to attempt travel from Earth to Mars.
